Dogwood – Quinn

Charles E. Burchfield, adored trees and wildflowers.  He particularly admired the varietals that bloomed in the spring, and often included them in his paintings.  Burchfield painted portraits of his daughters, Martha and Catherine, and included a dogwood tree in each portrait…pink in Catherine’s and white in Martha’s.  Our “Dogwood” wallpaper was designed by Charles E. Burchfield, circa 1921.  DW1, DW2, and DW3 are inspired by three of Burchfield’s historic color-ways.  DW4, DW5 and DW6 are contemporary palettes chosen by Red Disk.  What appear to be flowers on the dogwoods are not true flowers.  Instead, they are bracts, or modified leaves that look like petals.  The true flowers of the dogwood are clustered at the center of the bracts.

The complexity of our designs, the layers of hand silkscreened color and true historic patterns, create a lush, dimensional print that may not seamlessly line up at each butted edge like a machine-made product. Our standards are high. We continuously check our work throughout the printing process at the end of each run… and again during packaging.

Every roll is a work of art.
